Eco Council

Hello, we are Lutley Eco Council.

Each year, Key Stage 2 pupils, who are passionate about protecting the environment, can apply for a place on our Eco Council team.

Our Eco Councillors meet regularly with Mrs Cole and Mrs Parker to organise activities and campaigns around the school designed to raise funds for environmental projects and charities as well as promote sustainability. At the heart of all their work is the Lutley Eco Code: a set of promises that the children strive to help the school uphold.

At the beginning of every year, our Eco Councillors complete an environmental review designed to highlight areas of improvement and which is then used to set out our yearly action plan. Every two year, our fantastic work is then reported to Eco Schools in order to help us maintain our Green Flag school Award, which we have held since 2010.

Other responsibilities include collecting paper and card for recycling (year 4), carrying out litter picking (year 5), looking after our chickens (year 6) and some gardening projects (year 3 – see Farm School). In addition, we help write reports and make applications for national school competitions. Last, but most certainly not least, we help organise events and schemes such as: our ink cartridge recycling project, International Climate Week as well as Green Mufti days every term.

Solar Panels:

Here you can find out how much Solar energy the school has generated over the month. Our Solar Panels provide a source of good clean energy which helps to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as save the school money! Click on the graph below to see our energy count in more detail.
