Safety First @ Lutley Primary

At Lutley we take safety very seriously. There are a number of ways in which we keep your children safe.

  1. Safeguarding checks - all adults who work in   school have DBS checks every 3 years.
  2. Senior staff who are involved in recruiting new staff have completed safer recruitment training.
  3. Safeguarding officers in school complete their advanced 2 day training every 2 years.
  4. All teaching staff are Gold and Silver level data protection trained to keep information they carry, such as reports and assessments, as safe as possible.
  5. All visits are risk assessed and all visits are checked by the Deputy Head. Category 2 visits are checked by the Local Authority.
  6. Children are talked through a risk assessment before they go on a visit to assess any risks they may come across.
  7. Children in years 3 and 5 take part in Bikeability to keep your children safe on the road.
  8. In PE lessons children always assess risks around them to stop any accidents when taking part in PE lessons.
  9. When children reach year 6 we hold ‘Are you ready to travel safely to Secondary School?’ safety sessions.
  10. We teach regular internet safety sessions for all year groups to highlight dangers online.
  11. We have a trained CEOP ambassador in school who delivers internet safety sessions to parents and children throughout the year.
  12. We highlight how to keep safe throughout the year as well as at certain times such as sun and water safety in the summer and bonfire safety in the Autumn.
  13. We complete regular safety audits through the school council which ask children whether they feel safe in school. If issues arise we ensure they are dealt with straight away.
  14. We have a robust web filtering system which prevents inappropriate content in school.
